FINCASTLE - Mrs. Grace Ellen Penley, age 101, died Thursday, March 1, 1990, at her residence. She was the widow of Fred J. Penley, who worked in real estate in Botetourt County. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Rosa P. Moore, and one grandson, Frederick N. Gilbert. She is survived by two daughters, Blanche P. Gilbert, Roanoke; Edna P. Brugh, Fincastle; three sons, Albert J. Penley, Richmond; Samuel W. Penley, Fincastle; Fred J. Penley, Jr., Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, Ellis Newberry, Bland; nine grandchildren, David Brugh, Roanoke; Roderick Moore, Ferrum; A. J. Penley, II, Richmond; Judith Holt, Richmond; Dean Penley, Roanoke; Doyle Penley, Wilmington, N.C.; Michael Penley, Houston, Texas; Sue Ellen Penley, New York, N.Y.; Robin Penley, Charlotte, N.C.; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, at the Fincastle United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Wash officiating. Interment will follow in Godwin Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Rader Troutville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fincastle United Methodist Church, Fincastle, Va. 24090.
