CROCKETT, SALLIE G. RADFORD - Sallie Jane Gillespie Crockett, age 89, died
Friday morning, March 2, 1990. She was born in Tazewell County, on April 1,
1900, the fourth child of James Floyd Gillespie and Mary Frank Crockett. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Hamilton Crockett and three
sisters and one brother, Ada Pierce Moore, Lillian Alderson Gillespie, James
Robert Gillespie and Virginia Hazel Speed, Sallie, Lillie and Joe operated
Gillespie Grocery in Bluefield, Va. for over twenty years. She was a member of
the First United Methodist Church in Bluefield. She is survived by a nephew,
Sonny and Sue Speed and family of Christiansburg, Va.; one niece, Sue and
George Wysor and family of Arlington, Va.;and special friends. Funeral service
will be held Sunday, March 4, at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist
Church in Bluefield, Va., with the Rev. Don Scott officiating. Interment will
follow in the Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell. Friends may call Sunday from
1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Bluefield. DeVilbiss
Funeral Home, Radford, is handling the arrangements.
