NAVY OILER, TUGBOAT COLLIDE; NO INJURIES

A tugboat collided with a Navy oiler early Thursday as the larger vessel set sail for Europe, causing a 4-foot tear in the hull of the oiler, officials said. No one was injured and no oil was spilled.

The Savannah, a replenishment oiler, was sailing fully loaded when the collision occurred about 8:30 a.m. with the tugboat, said Lt. Cmdr. John Lloyd, a spokesman for the Atlantic Fleet Surface Force in Norfolk.
