W&L'S HOLTON EARNS ALL-ACADEMIC HONOR

Mike Holton, Washington and Lee's junior basketball standout, has been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America College Division Academic All-America team, the school announced.

Holton, out of McQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester, N.Y., was picked to the third team and was the top vote-getter in the District III regional balloting. He was a second-team selection last year.

Holton was the third-leading scorer for the Generals this season, averaging 12 points, and he led the team in free-throw percentage (81.7).

An accounting major, Holton has a 3.868 cumulative grade-point average. He was selected to Phi Eta Sigma, the freshman honor society, and Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership fraternity.

To be considered for Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve and maintain a 3.2 GPA. - Staff report
