BOY BURNED BY BULLY GETS SURGERY

David Aupont, the 12-year-old Brooklyn boy who was critically burned in an attack Wednesday, underwent four hours of surgery Friday, as doctors removed damaged skin from his arms and replaced it with healthy skin from his legs.

Dr. Cleon Goodwin, director of the burn unit at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, where the operation took place, stressed that David was "still in a life-threatening situation" and would be for several months.

Goodwin predicted the boy would continue to undergo skin grafts every seven to 10 days for the next several months.

The police said David was burned by a 13-year-old who stopped him as he was on his way to school and forced him into a basement. There, police said, the 13-year-old beat David with his fists, stole a small amount of money from him, doused him with a flammable liquid and set him ablaze.

The 13-year-old has been charged as a juvenile with attempted murder, assault and robbery.
