COX, EVELYN H.

INDEPENDENCE - Mrs. Evelyn Haga Cox, age 49, of Independence, passed Saturday, March 10, 1990, in Twin County Community Hospital, Galax, Va. She was born October 6, 1940, in Independence, to Ernest and Virginia Moxley Haga. She was a member Bethany United Methodist Church and was a part time clerical worker in the Grayson County Treasurer's Office. Surviving are her husband, Carl Alvin Cox of the home; a daughter, Audra Dianne Cox of the home; two sons, 1st Lt., Douglas Alvin Cox, Radcliff, Ken.; Brian Carl Cox of the home; parents, Ernest and Virginia Haga of Independence; seven sisters, Loretta McCleod, Winston-Salem, N.C.; Catherine Haga, New Haven, Conn.; Barbranne Cole and Sandra Halsey, both of Mouth of Wilson, Va.; Glenda Ward, Mary Jane Ferrell, Scottie Cox, all of Independence; five brothers, Jim Haga, Bland; Colen Haga, Ronald Haga, Bill Haga, and Thomas Haga, all of Independence. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in the Cox Family Cemetery. The body will remain at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday night from 7:00 to 9:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indpendence Rescue Squad.
