James Ernest Neal, age 83, of 1925 Willis Street, Salem, died at his home Saturday, March 10, 1990. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a retired mechanic for Fulton Motor Company. He is survived by his wife, Nannie S. Neal; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty Neal Boyd and husband, the Rev. Sidney K. Boyd, Richlands; three granddaughters, Betty Lyn Krafft, Charlotte, N.C.; Katherine and Stephanie Boyd, Johnson City, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Ruth Redman, Walnut Cove, N.C.; Mrs. Frances Nelson, Pilot Mountain, N.C.; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside at the Neal-Tuttle Family Cemetery, Walnut Cove, N.C., at 1:00 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Sidney K. Boyd and the Rev. Randy Jesse officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund, Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1923 E. Main St., Salem, Va, 24153. There will be no viewing or visitation. The family will receive friends at the home. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel.
