The city of Philadelphia has agreed to pay $500,000 to the estates of each of five children who died after police bombed the radical group MOVE's headquarters five years ago. Five children and six adults were killed in 1985 during the battle between MOVE and police officers trying to arrest members of the armed, back-to-nature group. Police dropped a bomb on MOVE's fortified home, setting off a fire that destroyed 61 row houses.

\ A freight engine rammed an Amtrak train sitting at a station in Rocky Mount, N.C., early today, injuring at least 25 people, officials said. Amtrak's northbound 19-car Silver Meteor, which runs from Florida to New York City, was about to leave with 471 passengers when it was hit by the engine pulling 96 freight cars, Amtrak spokeswoman Pat Duricka said.
