STUBBS, WILLIAM R.\ LEXINGTON - William Robert Stubbs, age 69, died Monday, March 12, 1990. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, where he served as a pilot for the Air Transport Command. He was also recognized for his efforts in soil and water conservation. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Pettyjohn Stubbs; one son, Michael Stubbs, Springfield; two daughters, Carter Stubbs Drake, Lexington; Helen Stubbs Hamilton, Triangle; one sister, Helen Stubbs Bowin, Pulaski, Tenn.; and one grandchild. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. today at the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with the Rev. Randolph Harrison officiating. Lomax Funeral Home, Buena Vista, is in charge of the arrangements.
