ONLY TWO CLUB MEMBERS LEFT

Lee Hartman Sr., treasurer of the 1900 Club before it disbanded, will celebrate his 90th birthday in October.

He and Hartman Saunders Guerrant are the only two known living members of the club.

Hartman, founder of Lee Hartman & Sons Sound Equipment Inc., is semi-retired. "Just go in now and then to keep things in line," he said.

He spends much of his time gardening - strawberries, corn, tomatoes and other vegetables. The flower gardening he leaves to Cathleen, his wife of 64 years.

He also travels to Europe, China, Mexico and Jamaica. And there are eight great-granddaughters for him to keep up with.

Hartman grew up at what was called Medley, the intersection of Cove and Peters Creek roads. The business that he, his wife, sons and grandsons run is not far from them at Cove and Hershberger roads.
