TROUTVILLE SEEKS LOAN TO EXTEND WATER LINE

The Troutville Town Council has applied for a $250,000 tax-exempt loan from Dominion Bank to fund the extension of the town's water line to Exit 44 of Interstate 81.

"We've completed the application, and we're waiting for our audit to be completed before the bank can take any action on the loan," Mayor Jewell Tyndall told council members at the council meeting Tuesday night.

On another matter, Council approved a motion to ask the state Department of Transportation to install additional sidewalks in the town.

"We've been told that we are included in the department's six-year improvement plan," Tyndall said. "We need additional sidewalks, and are hoping that we get in the allocation for this year."

Council also voted to ask the department to incorporate Stevens Drive into its system.
