Truck-safety contest to be held April 27, 28
Roanoke-area truck drivers are invited to enter the Roanoke Valley Truck Safety Roadeo, sponsored by the Safety Council of Southwest Virginia. The event will be held April 27 and 28 at the Salem Civic Center.
The "roadeo" is a contest of driving skill, in which drivers demonstrate their abilities to handle trucks under difficult conditions and in a confined space. Drivers also are tested on their knowledge of safety regulations.
Categories will include straight truck, dump truck, three-axle, four-axle, five-axle van, five-axle flatbed, five-axle tank and twin trailer. Only drivers who have not been involved in collisions or received citations for traffic violations during the past year may enter.
The $50 fee will benefit programs of the Safety Council. Call 344-4676 for more information.
