W&L SELECTS NEW DEAN OF STUDENTS

The student affairs dean at a 2,100-student liberal arts college in upstate New York has been named dean of students at Washington and Lee University.

David Howison will replace Lewis John, who stepped down to return to full-time teaching. The appointment is effective July 1.

Howison has been dean of student affairs at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y, since 1984. He went to the school 16 years earlier to become assistant dean of students.
