CAN SHOW CONCERN WITHOUT BURNING FLAG

AN ARTICLE on Federal Judge Rothstein's ruling on Congress' law pertaining to flag-burning quoted him as saying that abolishing the right to burn the flag would be unconstitutional. I disagree.

If flag-burning is allowed, people will begin to have less respect for the flag as a symbol of our freedom. They will use the American flag only as a tool in showing their disagreement with the country and the decisions of our leaders. There already are many methods of showing one's concern for the welfare of our country without defacing or destroying the American flag.\ CHRIS BEISSER\ BEDFORD
