Audrey Hepburn will team up with the New World Symphony orchestra to tell in music and words the story of Holocaust victim Anne Frank.

Hepburn, a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, said she identified closely with the Jewish teen-ager who retained innocent hopes for the world despite her own predicament while she and her family hid from the Nazis for two years during World War II. Frank later died in a concentration camp. Her diary was first published in 1947.

Hepburn will narrate "From the Diary of Anne Frank" at its premiere tonight at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the first of four "Concerts for Life" in aid of the United Nations Children's Fund.

"If the words of Anne Frank have lived this long without it, they will live forever with this music," she said.

The 60-year-old actress collaborated with composer Michael Tilson Thomas, New World conductor.

Other concerts will be held in Chicago on Wednesday, in Houston on Friday and before the U.N. General Assembly in New York City next Sunday.

\ Dennis Quaid got involved in trips to Central America as a chaperone of ailing children when a doctor made a house call for him during filming of "The Big Easy" in 1984 in New Orleans.

"I just couldn't believe a doctor made a house call for me, and I told him if there was ever anything I could do for him, . . . " the actor said. "And he returned with, `As a matter of fact . . . "'

The doctor was Mayer Heiman, who has brought more than 100 sick children from the world's poorest regions for treatment in U.S. hospitals since he founded the International Hospital for Children in 1981.

"This is such a special program for me because I get to work directly with the children," Quaid said. "It's a real hands-on experience."

"Everyone wants to do something in their life that helps others," he said. "If you save just one soul, then you feel like you've saved the whole world."
