N.C. WOMAN DIES AFTER HIT-AND-RUN

A 28-year-old North Carolina woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on East Stuart Drive in Galax early Sunday. The vehicle and driver left the scene.

The victim was identified as Patricia Vass Wall of Elkin, N.C. She was hit at approximately 12:20 a.m. Sunday and pronounced dead at the scene.

Galax police are investigating and Sunday night reported no positive leads on the identity of the driver or a description of the vehicle.

Wall was hit shortly after leaving an Elks Lodge less than a mile away. She was alone and walking along the side of the road when she was struck, police said.
