ROANOKE DEVELOPER FILES WAGE-EARNER PETITION

James E. Long, once a prominent Roanoke apartment developer, has filed a business petition in Bankruptcy Court in Roanoke.

Long, who filed for reorganization in the early 1970s, and his wife, Mildred, filed a wage-earner petition as a real estate developer and building contractor. They reported debt of $142,000 and no assets.

Galax Glass and Mirror Co. of Galax, employing about 30 people, filed for reorganization, saying its 20 largest creditors have claims for $417,488.

Willard Arthur Green, trading as Silk Screen America of Roanoke, asked for liquidation, listing debt of $60,202 and assets of $4,650.

Also filing for liquidation were: Timothy A. Fitzgerald of Hardy, trading as Audrey's Hallmark in Winston-Salem, with debts of $1.2 million and assets of $217,252; Valley Professional Services of Pearisburg, a janitorial and lawn care company owned by Charles and Betty Herbert, listing debts of $69,000 and assets of $7,693; H&H Improvement Co. of Marion, owned by William P. Hall, with debts of $24,175 and no assets; and Desparado Fuels of Grundy, a mining company owned by John Stapleton, with debts of $586,729 and no assets.
