\ Directors of Bell Atlantic Corp., parent of C&P Telephone Co. of Virginia, have declared a 2-for-1 split of the company's common stock and increased its quarterly dividend from $1.10 per share to $1.18 a share before the split.

\ The U.S. Chamber of Commerce claims the price of the Postal Service's proposed 20 per cent rate increase will be about $88 a year for the average household - far more than the post office's estimate of $8. The average employee will have to spend an additional day's pay on stamps if the increase is approved, the chamber said.
