CARILION TO RELOCATE SERVICES

Carilion Health Systems plans to move some of its non-medical clerical services to the old Moore's building on Reserve Avenue.

The proposal is contingent on rezoning of the property from heavy manufacturing to office and institutional. The Roanoke Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the matter on April 4.

Vance Whitefield, spokesman for Carilion, said the clerical services currently are scattered in various locations.

John Marlles, the city's chief of community planning, said he believes the office zone is more compatible with the city's recreational complex across the street.

Carilion operates Roanoke Memorial and other hospitals in the region.
