HEART CONDITION BLAMED IN GIRL'S DEATH

School officials say they believe "existing heart conditions" caused the death of an 11-year-old girl who collapsed on a stairwell while walking back to her classroom after lunch.

Maria Ferguson, who had undergone three open heart surgery operations since age 5, died Monday despite resuscitation attempts by faculty members and the school nurse. - Associated Press
