Joyce Howell Jones, age 69, absent from the body, present with the Lord, departed this life Wednesday, March 21, 1990. Mrs. Jones retired in 1980 from the Roanoke City School Administration. Surviving are her husband, James F. Jones; her daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Daniel Dugan, Roanoke; Kathy and Richard Cunningham, Kissimmee, Fla.; Janet Platt, Roanoke; brother, Claude M. Howell, Jr., Bridgeton, Missouri; two sisters, Verlene Downes, Bland, Missouri; Marguerite Sleen, Minneapolis, Minn.; grandchildren, David, Doug and Danelle Dugan; Laura Beth and Paul Cunningham; Brienne and Stephen Platt. Funeral services will be conducted at Grace Church, 2731 Edgewood St., S.W. at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 23, 1990 with the Rev. Everette Kier officiating. Interment in Bethel Cemetery, Pond, Missouri, on Monday, March 26, 1990. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Academy, 2731 Edgewood St., S.W. The family will receive friends at Lotz Roanoke Chapel 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday.
