ONE SYNDROME BEGETS ANOTHER

A DISEASE in this country is ravaging every sector of the population. Most who contract it are adults, but because of adults' consistently irresponsible behavior, our children are also at great risk. Although some are working hard to find a cure, the collective prognosis continues to look grim.

I am not talking about Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. I am speaking of Ignorance About Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.

I would like to express my most sincere condolences to the most recent victims of this malady: William Byrd Middle School principal Steve Lonker, and all the parents who support him in his decision to deny Mike Long the right to speak to the students of that fine institution of learning.\ MARK S.
