OBIT-SHORTRIDGE, E.

SHORTRIDGE, EMILY M.\ Mrs. Emily McCarley Shortridge, of 2412 Crystal Springs Ave., S.W. and formerly of Abingdon, died Tuesday, March 27, 1990. She was born April 20, 1900 in Ripley, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Roy Lee Shortridge. She was a graduate of Mississippi Synodical College and Radford University. She was a retired elementary school teacher having taught in the Abingdon School System for 35 years. She remained active in Presbyterian Church activities throughout her life. She was a former member of the Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church in Abingdon and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Roanoke for the last three years. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Lee Jr. and Penny Shortridge, Richmond; Dr. Charles M. and Susan Shortridge, Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Martha Shortridge and Robert H. Moore, Falls Church; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 1990 at the First Presbyterian Church in Roanoke with Dr. John LaMotte officiating. Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church in Abingdon with Rev. Robert N. Lominack officiating with burial to follow at Knollkreg Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Roanoke or the Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church, Abingdon. Oakey's Roanoke Chapel is handling the arrangements.
