VASS, BESSIE S.\ EAGLE ROCK - Bessie Shanks Vass, age 71, died Monday in a Roanoke hospital. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Cromer (Louise) Johnson, Eagle Rock; Mrs. Betty Cain of Arlington; one son, William Lewis Vass of South Carolina; three half brothers, Frank Lam, James Lam, and Chapman Lam; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral will Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Eagle Rock Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home.
