EASTERN REDUCES OFFER TO CREDITORS

Pleading that it will lose more than twice as much money this year than it had estimated two months ago, bankrupt Eastern Airlines told its creditors Tuesday that it will have to sharply reduce the amount it has agreed to pay them.

Presenting its lenders with yet another revision to its reorganization plan, the airline said it was so strapped that it probably would not be able to emerge from bankruptcy this summer as it had hoped. - Los Angeles Times
