THEATER WILL STAGE `TREASURE ISLAND'

Barter Theatre will open its 1990 performances April 17 with "Treasure Island," adapted from Robert Lewis Stevenson's first full-length novel in 1881.

It will play to audiences from schools during the week and the rest of the public on weekends. School representatives interested in reserving seats for students can telephone 628-3991 locally or toll-free elsewhere 1-800-572-2081.

"Barter is delighted to be staging a professional production of one of the greatest adventure stories of all time," said Rex Partington, Barter's producing director. "The set, the costumes, the language and accents of the pirates, the ship and the search for buried treasure combine for great fun, both for the Barter company and the audience."
