DEFENDANT DESCRIBES SNUFF FILM AS `FANTASY'

A man accused of plotting to kidnap, torture and murder a young boy in the making of a snuff film testified Tuesday that the plan was a "fantasy" that he never intended to carry out.

Daniel DePew said in U.S. District Court that he went along with the plan because he was afraid of the three men who had approached him about the project - two of whom were undercover police officers posing as pornographers.

Depew's case is expected to go to the jury today. He faces 20 years to life in prison. A co-defendant, Dean Lambey, pleaded guilty last fall and is serving a 30-year sentence.
