JACKSON MAY SEEK HOUSE SEAT

Jesse Jackson is considering running for the District of Columbia's non-voting U.S. House seat to boost his presidential prospects and help the city's drive for statehood, sources close to Jackson said Wednesday.

"It gives him a base to operate from without eliminating any of his other options, including the possibility of another national campaign," said one Jackson aide who spoke on condition of anonymity. "He's seriously considering it."

Jackson flatly denied Wednesday that he is thinking of running for the non-voting House seat.

However, advisers said Jackson's National Rainbow Coalition is trying to dismantle a city law that would keep Jackson from running for delegate. The law requires that congressional candidates live in the nation's capital for three years before seeking the office.
