TWO MEN ARE INDICTED IN STUDENT'S DEATH

Two District of Columbia men were indicted by a D.C. Superior Court jury on Wednesday for the slaying of a Greek exchange student who attended George Mason University.

The 13-count indictment was returned against Garfield Ratiff and James Weaver in the fatal shooting of Evelyn Spanos on Jan. 12.

Ratiff, 26, and Weaver, 19, were charged with plotting to rob patrons outside the nightclub where Spanos was abducted.

Prosecutors say Ratiff robbed, raped and shot the student and charged Weaver with felony murder as an accessory to the crime.

Ratiff allegedly told authorities he killed the woman to prevent her from identifying him.

He was also charged with felony murder. No trial dates were set.
