ROANOKE SWIMMERS TO COMPETE IN MAINE

Five members of the Roanoke Valley Swimming Inc. Gators have qualified for the Eastern Zone Championship swim meet this weekend in Bangor, Maine. This is the largest number of swimmers the Gators have sent to the event, the highest level of competition available to swimmers in this age group.

Carolyn Bucher, 10, will swim the 50-yard freestyle and 200- and 400-yard free relay. David Feldman, 14, will swim the 100-yard backstroke, 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard free relay. Mary Logan, 10, will swim the 50- and 100-yard backstroke. Brian Marsh, 12, will swim the 50- and 100-yard breast stroke and the 500-yard freestyle. Margaret Hunter Turner, 10, will swim the 50- and 100-yard freestyle, the 50- and 100-yard butterfly, the 100- and 200-yard individual medley, the 200- and 400-yard free relay and the 200-yard medley relay.
