GIRLS' AAU BASKETBALL IN 2ND ROUND

The AAU girls' 13-and-under Western Regional basketball tournament continued Thursday with second-round winners' bracket games in Roanoke.

In action at William Byrd High, William Byrd Middle School and the Roanoke Career Center, the Dublin Dukes defeated Rockingham Blue 47-12, the Roanoke Hawks defeated the Radford Bobcats 56-15, the Williamson Road Cavaliers got by the Blacksburg Lady Rebels 32-27 and the Stuarts Draft Cougars defeated the Pulaski County Orioles 54-25.

On Wednesday night, Floyd Black defeated the Glenvar-Salem Rockettes 28-21, Roanoke Stars Blue slipped past the Franklin County Eagles 45-44 and Roanoke Stars Red defeated Floyd Gold 50-18.

The tournament is sponsored by the Roanoke Stars AAU Association. The two bracket winners advance to Charlottesville to play the Eastern Regional champions April 20-22. - Staff report
