RUSTBURG SELECTS WHEELER AS COACH

Paul Wheeler, a former Timesland football coach of the year, has been hired as head coach at Rustburg High. He replaces Tom Garner, who resigned in February to take a job in private business.

Wheeler, who coached at Virginia High in Bristol the past six years, was Timesland coach of the year when he guided George Wythe to the 1983 Group AA championship game against Courtland.

Wheeler's appointment was approved Thursday night by the Campbell County school board.
