WORKSHOP PRESENTS SCENES FROM 2 OPERAS

Scenes from "Faust" and "Brigadoon" will be presented at the 1990 Opera Workshop at Emory & Henry College April 6 and 7 at 8 p.m.

"Faust," Charles Gounod's operatic version of Goethe's story, has Brian Davis of Cedar Bluff in the title role. He is one of the accompaniests, along with Diedre Davis. Marianne Grzywacz is directing.

Also appearing in "Faust" is Amanda Gilmer, Great Falls. Appearing in both "Faust" and "Brigadoon" are Sarah Straley, Pearisburg; Rick Brown, Meadowview; and Susan Wood, Clifton Forge.

"Brigadoon," by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, will be sung by Erick Long of Hatboro, Pa.; Paul Sisson, Roanoke; Margaret Lowery, Due West, S.C.; Richard Pfau and Joseph McCoy, Emory; Clay Blevins, Marion; Maria Whitlock, Radford; Amanda Gilmer, Jodie Williams and Matthew Thomas, Abingdon; and John Brewster, Hixson, Tenn.

The performers include college and high school students and faculty members. - Southwest bureau
