WYTHEVILLE SEWER PROJECT UNDER WAY

The town formally launched its $1.6 million West Wytheville sewage project with a ground-breaking ceremony Friday morning.

The project - including three pump stations, 4,960 feet of force lines and 19,350 feet of gravity lines - will serve 115 homes when complete in about a year.

Mayor Carl Stark said funding included a $349,000 grant and $706,170 low-interest loan from the Farmers Home Administration. The town is paying $550,000. Compton Construction Co. Inc. is the contractor.
