AUTHOR TO READ WORK AT LIBRARY IN BRISTOL

Virginia novelist Sharyn McCrumb will give a reading at the Bristol Public Library Sunday at 2 p.m. from her latest mystery, "If Ever I Return, Pretty Peggy-O."

The book, just published by Charles Scribner's Sons, is McCrumb's first hardback novel.

She has published four paperback novels featuring a continuing character and a fifth non-related mystery, "Bimbos of the Death Sun," which won an Edgar Award last year from the Mystery Writers of America.

In her new novel, McCrumb sets her story at the 20th reunion of a high school in a small Tennessee town where a man believed killed in Vietnam may be stalking a famous '60s folk singer. - Southwest bureau
