MERGER WILL CENTRALIZE POWER

WE HEAR so much about progress and consolidation: Tear down the good and build better, all at the expense of the few people willing to work and make an honest living.

Consolidation means getting the power centralized, so as to control the people. The school systems will suffer, taxes will become unbearable. It's communism in the making.

A few men elected to represent the people become intoxicated with power. They begin to figure ways to get more money off the people. More taxation or speed traps, the list could go on.

Must we get in the same predicament as Romania and other countries before we say it is enough?\ ZELDA WOODSON\ ROANOKE
