According to DeWilde, it is acceptable for one to "blow smoke" wherever one pleases, even at the expense of those who don't appreciate it. And of course, DeWilde doesn't believe his cigarette smoke is harmful.
This seems to be the attitude of most smokers. They will say almost anything to defend their self-induced addiction to nicotine. And the smoker doesn't seem too concerned with the wishes of those who want to breathe clean air. "Well, something's gonna kill you," is what the smoker always says. Maybe the surgeon general's warning on a pack of cigarettes should read, "Rest in Peace."
Yes, smoking is very harmful to everyone. If you smoke, please stop. If you don't smoke, don't ever start. And remember, the big cigarette corporations will go to great lengths to promote smoking, but they won't pay a single cent for anyone's funeral.\ TIM BLACK\ DUBLIN
