Woodrow W. Henderson, Sr., age 76, of Roanoke County, died Saturday, March 31,
1990, at Snyder Nursing Home, Salem. He was retired from the Roanoke County
Sanitation Department. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints and held the office of High Priest in that church. He is
survived by his wife, Novella; seven children, Brenda Martin, Bonnie H.
Chaszar, Becky Carter, Woody Henderson, Jr., and Sheldon Henderson, all of
Salem; Ms. Susan Haymes, Charleston, W. Va.; Ms. Dreama Cox, Richmond; two
stepchildren, Jean Stultz, Atlanta, Ga.; Larry Wertz, Tampa, Fla.; twenty-one
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first
wife, Mildred Sawyers. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters:
Mrs. William H. (Ruth) Blunck, Orem, Utah; Paul E. Henderson, Richmond; Mrs.
Harold (Beulah) Riley, Mrs. D. W. (Hazel) Pincock, Mrs. Vearl (Betty) McBride
and Mrs. Paul (Nadine) Wiemer, all of Roanoke; Mrs. Ray (Belva) Engberson,
Hyattsville, Md.; also numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral
services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Stake
Center, Wayburn Drive, Salem, at 12:00 noon on Tuesday. Interment will be in
the Ferguson Family Cemetery, Ivy Mountain Drive, Roanoke County. The family
will receive friends at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, 305 Boulevard,
Salem, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday.
