LAKE BAD PLACE FOR LIQUOR BY THE DRINK

WE AGREE with Becky Shively's March 7 letter where she says: "Let Smith Mountain Lake area residents have what they want and feel is best for them."

We strongly disagree with her opinion that liquor by the drink would be beneficial. She does not speak for us or for many others.

People driving the twisting mountainous roads need to be alert, and drinking before driving dulls senses and reflexes.

The Smith Mountain Lake area has seen some tremendous changes since we purchased our home here in 1978. We love the area and the people but have noticed that more and more of the residents moving in - to get away from the problems they left behind - are trying to bring those problems with them and force these bad habits on the locals.

We pay taxes to Franklin County on our home and our boat, but we have no voting privileges. We care about the quality of life for our children, grandchildren and friends who come to visit and help to contribute to the money coming into Franklin County, etc.

By the way, Ron Willard has nothing to do with this letter. We know who he is, but we don't know him and he doesn't know us. Conclusion-jumping is a risky business. MR. and MRS. SAM EVANS BLUEWATER BAY and PORTSMOUTH
