Jeffries, who transferred to GW from Dan River before his junior year, averaged 14.8 points and 8.5 rebounds for the Eagles (17-5). He also was credited with nearly 100 assists.
"I thought he deserved more attention [from the recruiters] than he got," said Harry Johnson, GW's coach. "Larry is a late bloomer. He did not attend any summer camps, therefore, he was not contacted until late in the year."
Jeffries' only recruiting visits were to VMI and Elon, although he has continued to receive calls from other schools.
"I don't think there's any doubt he will sign with VMI," Johnson said. "He's just waiting until [the spring signing period begins] April 11."
Jeffries, discovered by VMI assistant Dave Manzer, is the fourth player either to sign or make an oral commitment to the Keydets. In addition, transfer Erek Perry from Delaware becomes eligible in 1990-91.
