LACY CHALLENGED FOR BOARD SEAT

Donald Lacy's seat on the Montgomery County School Board is being challenged by Guy C. Tudor, a 36-year-old engineer with Draper Aden Associates.

The deadline for submitting applications for the two open seats was 5 p.m. Wednesday. The four-year terms of both Lacy (District G) and Robert Goncz (District B) expire the end of June.

Goncz has asked to be reappointed; no one else applied for his seat.

Tudor is a senior engineer and surveyor for Draper Aden and a graduate of Virginia Tech. He said in his application letter that he hopes to use his ties to private businesses and the engineering profession to increase their involvement with the school system.

The Board of Supervisors will conduct interviews the week of April 16, hold a public hearing May 14, and make the appointments May 28. The new appointments are effective July 1.
