The pageant winner, in addition to receiving various college scholarships, will advance to the Miss Virginia Pageant in July.
Lyn Chasteen Cooke, a professional singer, will be the mistress of ceremonies and a featured performer.
The contestants are:
Kimberly Hall, 17, a senior at James River High School and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Wells of Buchanan. She will sing in the talent competition.
Stephanie Wise, 20, a sophomore at Virginia Western Community College and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wise of Salem. She will perform a baton routine.
Melissa Spradlin, 24, a graduate of Virginia Western and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Spradlin of Salem. She will sing.
Melanie Marks, 21, a junior at Hollins College and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. Marks of Martinsville. She will perform a jazz dance.
Christina Smith, 18, a senior at Glenvar High School and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William D. Smith of Salem. She will sing and dance.
Rene Mengerink, 19, a freshman at Virginia Western and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Mengerink of Roanoke. She will present a dramatic monologue.
Lucia Eckstein, 22, a sophomore at Virginia Western and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Eckstein of Roanoke. She will sing.
Virginia Trost, 20, a sophomore at Virginia Tech and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randall J. Trost of Forest. She will play the piano.
Jill Stephens, 18, a freshman at Roanoke College and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Stephens of Roanoke. She will sing.
Joyce Lawrence, 21, a senior at Lee College and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Lawrence of Salem. She will sing.
