RALEIGH COURT PLANS PLAY FOR HOLY WEEK

When worshipers come to Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church for Maundy Thursday service next week, they will share in an original drama to highlight lesser known aspects of Holy Week.

According to Frank Morris, a retiree from the mass communications field and director of the program, "people rarely think what was going on in the days between Jesus' triumph of Palm Sunday and the events that led to his arrest and crucifixion."

The church's worship committee asked five members with experience and interest in writing to prepare a simulated TV show. Morris will act as anchor man.

The actors will be wear contemporary clothing and Morris will interview them as they go about their routines.

Writers were Mimi Boynton, John and Peggy Eure, Jeanne Pritchard and Barbara Wohlford. The show, "The Week That Was," will begin at 7:15 p.m. in the church nave. It provides background for the usual Communion service.

Cast members include: John Eure and George Pollash as reporters; Sarah Dabney as Zimorah, a woman who saw Jesus as champion of ordinary people; Ed Bennett as Simon Peter; and Fred Hoffman as a money changer.

Betty Merritt will play Martha, and Tom Hord and Frank Plecity are Pharisees. Dave Erb will fill the role of high priest. Ben Pauley will play Caleb, a young man who hears Christ at prayer in Gethsemane.

The church is at 1837 Grandin Road S.W.
