\ VALLEY DELICATESSEN is open in the Valley Commons Shopping Center, 1768 Apperson Dr., Salem. Jean Saade offers a variety of deli foods, with Mediterranean pita sandwiches as a specialty. Also offered are hamburgers, submarine sandwiches, salads, desserts and domestic and imported beers. Party trays also are available.

\ THE TRANSPORTER ROOM, also in the Valley Commons Shopping Center on Apperson Drive, is a full-service shipper offering the services of United Parcel Service, Purolator, Federal Express, Airborne, Roadway Package Systems and motor freight services for large items. Other services include copying, notary service, fax service and gift wrapping. Postage stamps, small gifts, greeting cards and gift and moving boxes are available.

Kirk Ave. Owner/manager Judi Huffman offers a variety of gift items, including baskets, tins and bags that can be decorated for any occasion; gourmet chocolates; jewelry; novelty T-shirts and sweat shirts; balloons; and cards. A specialty of the shop is candy roses, which are available in three flavors.
