HORTON, OPAL S.\ FLOYD - Opal Sutphin Horton, age 68, passed away Friday in a Roanoke hospital. She is survived by her husband, Ceyral C. Horton, Floyd; two daughters, Judith Patterson, Atlanta, Ga.; Linda Reed, Bellingham, Wash.; two sons, Joseph Horton of Lexington, Ken.; and David Horton of Salem; five sisters, Lorraine Shrewsbury of Bluefield, W.Va.; Pauline Powers, Bluewell, W.Va.; Clara Lee Georgeff, Detroit, Mich.; Francis Gardine of Rochester, N.Y.; and Virginia Gabis, Detroit, Mich.; a dear friend, Wanda Blackwell of Floyd; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survived. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy Turpin officiating with interment in Jacksonville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. from the Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
