Isaac Washington Parker, age 60, of 1402 Rorer Avenue, S.W., Roanoke, died
Saturday afternoon in the Community Hospital in Roanoke. He was born in
Franklin County September 16, 1929. He was the son of the late Bruce and
Nellie Stockton Parker. He was of the Baptist faith. Prior to his retirement
for disability, he was employed at the Community Hospital of the Raonoke
Valley. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife,
Elizabeth Parker of Route 4, Chatham, Va.; a stepdaughter, Elease Campbell;
one stepson, Douglas Campbell; both of Route 4, Chatham; five sisters, Rowena
Berry and Lucy W. Parker, both of Cleveland, Ohio; Annie A. Witcher and Mary
C. Parker, both of New York City, N.Y.; Mildred Smith, Philadelphia, Pa.;
three brothers, Plum Parker and Thomas Dickerson, both of Roanoke; Robert
Dickerson, Bassett; mother-in-law, Mrs. Waddie F. Witcher, Penhook. Funeral
services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 p.m. from the Miller Funeral Home
Chapel in Gretna by the Rev. J.D. Holland and Bishop Alphonso Haynes. Burial
will be in the Finney's Family Cemetery at Route 4, Chatham. Miller Funeral
Home in Gretna is in charge of the arrangements.
