Claude H. Scearce, age 75, of Rt. 7, Box 97, died Sunday in the V.A. Medical Center in Salem. Born December 24, 1914, in Henry County, he was a son of the late Eddie S. and Josie Wyatt Scearce. A U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Druid Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Scearce was retired from Jones Electric Company. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Verta Cox Scearce; two sons, V.H. (Tom) Scearce and his wife Bonnie, Roanoke; Jim W. Scearce, Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Vernie S. Compton, Axton; a brother, Edward Scearce, Martinsville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, from the McKee Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. James T. Bender. Entombment will be in Roselawn Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at McKee Funeral Home.
