PEARISBURG - Elvin Maurice Hungate, age 72, died Sunday, April 8, 1990, in a
Pearisburg hospital. Mr. Hungate was a World War II veteran serving in the
First Battalion Seebees. He was a member of the American Legion Post #68,
Narrows; a member of the Providence United Methodist Church; and was a retired
employee of the Hoechst-Celanese Corporation. He was born in Floyd County on
June 11, 1917, and was a son of the late George R. and Alice Sumpter Hungate.
He is survived by his wife, Della Hungate; two sons, Donald H. Hungate, Robert
E. Hungate; one daughter, Linda Jane Rice; one brother, Alva L. Hungate; one
sister, Audrey F. Hungate; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be
conducted Wednesday, April 11, 1990, at 11:00 a.m. in the Givens Funeral
Chapel, Pearisburg, with the Rev. Curtis Sluss and Rev. C. H. Loudy
officiating with entombment in Birchlawn Abbey. Friends may call at the Givens
Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
