SPENCE, V. EDITH\ HAMPTON, VA. - Mrs. V. Edith Spence, age 71, died on Sunday, April 8, in Riverside Regional Convalescent Center in Newport News, Va. She was a native of Sprage, W.Va. She retired in 1976 as a sales clerk with W.T. Grant Co. after 22 years of service. Survivors include two daughters, Diane Colonna, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; Sandy Maley, Dayton, Texas; one son, John W. Spence, Gloucester, Va.; two sisters, Thelma Long, Elise Enicks, both of Belva, W.Va.; three brothers, Nelson Rice, Vinton; Walker Rice, Big Island; Clarence Rice, Hampton; five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11 in the Chapel of the Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home, Hampton by Rev. John C. Price. Burial will be in Veterans Memorial Gardens, Hampton. The family will receive friends at the Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Buckroe Beach Rescue Squad, Hampton. Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home, Hampton, is in charge of the arrangements.
