OIL COMPANIES ADOPT ECOLOGICAL GUIDELINES

The nation's major petroleum companies have adopted a set of "guiding environmental principles," their trade association announced Monday.

But Bob Adler, an attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, said the 11 principles adopted Friday by the American Petroleum Institute "are so vague as to be practically meaningless." - Associated Press
